About Us
RIDE Cyclery is a family-run bike shop in Southern California. We offer a full range of services catering to every kind of rider, from beach cruising to century crushing. At our Encinitas shop, RIDE Cyclery offers a special focus on road roading while RIDE 2U is the mobile arm of RIDE's services adding the convenience of bringing the shop to your door.
RIDE has grown out of a long history in the community. Opened originally as McDougall’s in the 1990s, it later became Dan’s Coast Cyclery. After a tragic fire at the restaurant next door, the shop was rebuilt and reopened as an Electra concept store, before changing again to Encinitas Bicycle Retailer.
In 2010 current owners Brent and Amie Garrigus took the reigns and turned local history into a new idea for the shop’s future. They introduced a stronger focus on the enthusiast and racing community, while still supporting its recreational riders, some of whom have been with the store since its beginning, in each of its forms.
RIDE moved into the “big red barn” on Coast Hwy 101 and Encinitas Boulevard in 2012, with the thought that a new space would better reflect its new spirit.
Brent has been a cyclist all his life, competing in BMX, road, and time trial (he is a former California State Time Trial Champion). The crew at RIDE is similarly enamored with all things two-wheeled. They are a diverse group with race resumes in road, mountain bike, and triathlon, as well as a healthy passion for introducing others to the sport (and others in the sport). They can help find the right bicycle for you, and get you professionally fit for maximum comfort and efficiency.
With over five group rides on road and trail leaving its shops per week, as well as a trainer workout led by World Champion Michellie Jones on Wednesdays, RIDE Cyclery has worked to become not only a bike shop, but a supportive member of the riding community. RIDE Cyclery is also proud to sponsor prominent North County club, Swami’s Cycling, as well as Wolf Pack Cycling, and Better Buzz Racing.
RIDE Cyclery’s doors are always open to community members wishing to start a group ride at either shop, or host an event, even after hours. The team at RIDE Cyclery can fix up a bike that has been around for a while, and they’re familiar with all the latest in technology and equipment, too. From repairs, to accessories, and bicycles, and no matter your age, preference, or experience level, It’s All About The Ride.
