SMS Program

The short version: We collect your phone number to send you work order updates. We do not sell it. We do not share it with third parties for marketing. You can ask us to delete it anytime.

1. Who We Are

This Privacy Policy applies to the SMS notification program operated by ABCyclery, LLC, doing business as RIDE Cyclery, located in Encinitas, California. References to “we,” “us,” or “RIDE Cyclery” in this policy refer to ABCyclery, LLC.

2. Information We Collect

When you consent to receive SMS work order updates, we collect and store the following information:

  • Your mobile phone number
  • Your name, as provided at service intake
  • Your opt-in consent status and the date consent was recorded
  • Work order identifiers associated with your service visits
  • Opt-out requests and the date of any opt-out

This information is collected in person at RIDE Cyclery during the bicycle service intake process and stored in our point-of-sale system.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your phone number and associated information are used solely to deliver transactional SMS messages related to your active bicycle service work orders. These messages include drop-off confirmations, technician updates, completion notices, and post-pickup thank-you messages.

We do not use your phone number for promotional campaigns, marketing blasts, or any purpose unrelated to your active service work order.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your phone number or personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

We use Twilio, Inc. as our SMS delivery provider. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio solely for the purpose of delivering messages you have consented to receive. Twilio’s handling of data is governed by their own privacy policy, available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.

5. Data Retention

We retain your phone number and consent record for as long as you remain an active customer of RIDE Cyclery or until you request deletion. Opt-out records are retained indefinitely to ensure we do not inadvertently re-enroll you.

6. Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

  • Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting us directly
  • Request access to the information we hold about you
  • Request deletion of your phone number from our SMS program records
  • Correct any inaccurate information we hold

7. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information. Your phone number is stored within our point-of-sale system, which is access-controlled and limited to RIDE Cyclery staff. We do not store your phone number in any publicly accessible system.

8. Children’s Privacy

Our SMS program is not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child’s information has been submitted to us, please contact us at ride@ridecyclery.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available at ridecyclery.com/sms/privacy. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised.
